Mohammad Junaid Essa,Head of Corporate Governance Section at SCA

Mohammad Junaid serves as the Head of the Corporate Governance Section at the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), where he has been an integral part of the organization for the past 15 years. He plays a key role in identifying and addressing weaknesses in corporate governance practices and in examining and recommending methods to enhance public companies’ compliance with SCA regulations. Mohammad is a recognized expert in promoting robust corporate governance practices among public companies in the UAE.

Beyond his role at the SCA, Mohammad has significantly contributed to improving the UAE’s ranking in the ‘Protecting Minority Investors’ of the World Bank’s Doing Business index. He also led the transition from physical to virtual general assembly meetings for listed companies during COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he is an active member of the UAE Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG), including all financial regulators in the UAE and he leads the Disclosure Working Stream. This group is dedicated to developing a sustainable finance ecosystem in the UAE.

Mohammad holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Finance and Banking from the University of Wollongong and is an alumnus of the Government Leaders Programme – Future Leaders, administered by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) of the UAE.

لعب محمد جنيد – رئيس قسم حوكمة الشركات – بهيئة الأوراق المالية والسلع (SCA) ، والذي يعمل لدى الهيئة على مدى السنوات الـ 15 الماضية ، دورًا رئيسيًا في تحديد نقاط الضعف وبناء ممارسات حوكمة قوية للشركات ، وذلك من خلال إطلاعه على أفضل الممارسات العالمية للإرتقاء بالأسواق المالية بالدولة وتحفيز الشركات للامتثال للوائح هيئة الأوراق المالية والسلع. بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، يعد محمد خبيرًا في القضايا ذات الصلة بتعزيز ممارسات حوكمة الشركات الجيدة من قبل الشركات المساهمة العامة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

كما لعب محمد دورًا رئيسيًا كعضو في فريق التنافسية في رفع تصنيف دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في مؤشر “حماية المستثمرين الأقلية” ضمن تقرير سهولة ممارسة الأعمال الصادر عن البنك الدولي” ، بالإضافة إلى تكليفه بعملية تحول اجتماعات الجمعية العمومية من الحضور الشخصي إلى الحضور الإلكتروني للشركات المساهمة العامة وذلك خلال فترة لوباء كوفيد 19. كما أنه عضو في الفريق الوطني لمجموعة عمل التمويل المالي المستدام بدولة الإمارات (SFWG) والذي يتكون من أعضاء من الجهات الرقابية المالية بالدولة ويقود أيضاً فريق عمل الإفصاح ضمن نفس المجموعة وهدفها إنشاء نظام تمويل مستدام في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

محمد حاصل على درجة الماجستير في “العلوم المالية والمصرفية” من – جامعة ولونغونغ ، وهو خريج من برنامج قيادات حكومة الإمارة – قيادات المستقبل – الذي يديره مكتب رئيس الوزراء (PMO) – الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
