This session will mainly focus on how an agile internal audit approach can provide a timely internal audit service to the board (or equivalent governing body), audit committee, and senior management. This can be achieved by leveraging agile project management techniques such as sprints to split the internal audit engagements into manageable parts, enabling internal auditors and stakeholders to collaboratively work together to stay timely and quickly deliver internal audit services.
The session will discuss the definition of agile auditing, its components, supporting elements, challenges, and risks. The session will expand to visualize the agile audit process while clearly showing how to maintain compliance with the IIA standards and IPPF.
- Brief about the Speaker:
Abir Machaco, Abir, a Certified Internal Auditor, has an excess of 15 years of combined experience in internal audit, risk management, and management consulting crossing both public and private sectors. Abir is currently a Director in the Internal Audit and Business Risk practice at Protiviti (Middle East) and is responsible for the delivery of Business Risk and Internal Audit Services to clients within the UAE and Gulf Region. She spent most of her professional experience in managing relevant projects for a wide portfolio of Government and semi-government clients within the UAE covering several industries such as Real Estate, Projects, Hospitality, Media, Education, Government regulatory agencies, and Financial Services.
Abir’s role is to provide recommendations around ways of improving the effectiveness of internal audit, governance, and compliance. She works with clients in implementing new techniques to add value to audit engagements and keep the Audit Committees well-informed through transparent communications.
Abir has previously delivered a workshop session on the next Generation audit during the 8th CAE-UAE conference,
in 2019 and on Agile Auditing during the 20th Annual Regional conference in 2022.
