Balancing product sustainability against business profitability: Sustainability reporting practices and corporate governance by Dr. Hashem Stietiya

The commonly held view is that sustainable practices at the corporate level entail profit sacrifices, conflicting with the business strive of maximizing shareholder wealth. Sustainability is in fact about enhancing profitability as much as it is about environmental protection. Businesses need to adopt strategies for balancing tomorrow’s sustainability with today’s profitability by gearing up sustainability principles into the business model and adopting the triple-bottom-line approach. A sustainable mindset ensures benefit to the environment, society, and to the firm’s financial bottom line. Sustainability reporting functions by addressing those three components of economic, environmental, and social aspects of a businesses’ operations.

Building A Modern Audit Function: A Take-to-enterprise Road Map by Indumon Das

In this power-packed session, Indumon Das, the Founder and Managing Director of Beinex, will survey and lay out a 100% pragmatic road map on how to build an enterprise-wide modern audit function. It is rich with take-to-enterprise action points and steps that you can start covering from day one to kickstart your transformation journey.

The modern Audit function as envisaged has a modular but seamless architecture to alter and revolutionize the way functions are conceived, planned, and conducted. This arrangement presupposes a range of transformations beforehand in the current ecosystem constituted by a string of factors: People-Process-Technology-Data. Be it any revolution or evolution; it starts with People, they being the prime drivers and consumers of that change. And change management is the catchphrase when it comes to processes. But no change is effective or efficient unless the facilitating technological ecosystem is robust and ready. Above all, insights-to-action models are impossible to fructify without a healthy and corresponding data-driven architecture. Yes, the roadmap for accelerated transformation to a modern audit function is constituted by seamless, synchronous transformations in the People-Process-Technology-Data string.
